A QUESTION OF SAFETY!
Open cards and pants down: There’s not really a question we won’t answer. Here is a collection of the most frequently asked questions about RipCue and daily use with production music.
GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT RIPCUE MUSIC
To make it easier for you to get started with the RipCue Music family, we have compiled the most important questions here to give you an accurate overview of RipCue. If you have any further questions, please contact us directly.
RipCue was founded with the aim of not being a music platform with over 100,000 tracks, but to have a suitable image in mind for every track. This is also the reason, for example, why our track descriptions are very visual and why we strongly align our music with recurring moving image situations.
When selecting our composers, we largely rely on local artists, with a healthy mix of young talent and old hands. We maintain a very close and familiar relationship with both our composers and our customers.
We are a 100% GEMA member and therefore our entire repertoire is subject to GEMA. If you are interested in GEMA-free music that has the same high quality standards as RipCue, please send us an e-mail and we will be happy to help you with our partner network.
With all of them!
As soon as you are working on a commissioned production for television, you can use our music without further consultation. However, please make sure you have the correct GEMA registration.
For co-productions, we will also grant you a free license for TV exploitation (free, pay, catch-up). Please note, however, that additional exploitations such as cinema require a license for the production right (sync right).
Absolutely.
You actually always have to license the sync right (production right) if the exploitation of your finished product takes place outside a GEMA framework agreement or if it is advertising. Typical cases are, for example
- Image film / product film / explanatory video
- Radio spot / audio book / podcast
- Commercial, movie, DVD film, etc.
- Viral videos, online videos etc.
We work out the license together with you so that you only pay for what you really need.
You can find all the important information here.
Just get in touch with us when you have found the right titles and when you know how your production should be exploited. We will then tell you the license price and fill out our license application for you based on this information. This will be sent to you (and/or your customer) including the invoice. The license is activated upon payment of the invoice.
Of course we will support you with the music registration. We will ensure that you only have to pay the GEMA license fees for your production.
QUESTIONS ABOUT MUSIC AND WEBSITE
In this section we answer all questions about production music and its use in professional media productions. The answers naturally relate to RipCue Music, but are equally applicable to other providers.
To download our music you need a free user account. With this you can download all our tracks in HQ WAV and MP3 files. With the individual access you can also create private playlists and manage your favorites.
Of course you can. Just send us an email to kontakt@ripcue.com and we will provide you with a free USB stick. We can either replace it regularly with an update or you can download the latest albums yourself – either via our website or our Corperate Dropbox account.
Yes, as soon as your personal user account is activated, you can create and manage your personal playlists without any problems.
All TV stations in Germany and Austria have some form of framework agreement with GEMA (AKM/AUME). This gives them full access to the entire GEMA repertoire, including RipCue Music, and there is no need to license the production rights. The acquisition of all other relevant rights is regulated accordingly in the GEMA framework agreement.
The cuesheet contains the copyright information for the titles you use. This ensures that the correct authors are remunerated for the use of their works.
You can see all relevant copyright information for our titles directly in our catalog. If you cannot find certain information, simply send us an email and we will be happy to fill out your cuesheet.
QUESTIONS ABOUT PRODUCTION MUSIC AND RIPCUE MUSIC
In this section, we answer all questions relating to production music (library music) and its use in professional media productions. The answers naturally relate to RipCue Music, but are equally applicable to other providers.
Unlike chart music, our equally high-quality tracks are written and produced specifically for the needs of audio and moving image productions. This allows you to make a quick, easy and cost-effective decision when selecting and editing your production. And, because we hold all the rights to all our productions, you only need to make one license request – to us, giving you the security of knowing you have all the rights.
If you just want to talk about the use of our music and the process of licensing or the functions of collecting societies, just get in touch – it’s actually easier than you might think.
If you, your company or your client have concluded a GEMA and GVL framework agreement (most broadcasters in Germany have this), then the use of our music in your project is „royalty-free“. Of course, the use of the music must be properly registered with the collecting society (e.g. GEMA).
A framework agreement with a collecting society allows professional users to use the entire music repertoire represented by the collecting society.
If you use our music under a corresponding framework agreement, please make sure you have a clean cuesheet / a clean music message. You can find all the relevant information on our website. Please remember that our artists/composers and we as publishers will only receive our corresponding € with a correct music notification.
If you are not sure whether you are trading under a framework agreement or have questions about the process of reporting your music use, simply contact us.
QUESTIONS FROM COMPOSERS
You are a composer and want to become part of the RipCue Music family? – We feel honored. In this section we answer all the questions that composers keep asking us.
Just send us a few meaningful demos in the genres/styles you are strongest in. We repeat AM STRONGEST. Convince us with your best work. We will then get back to you as soon as possible with individual feedback and from there we will see if a collaboration is an option for both sides.
FAIR! All composers work at RipCue under exactly the same conditions. Our contracts are concluded on a project basis. We disclose all further details transparently when it comes to a joint project.
